Although typically used in hanging baskets and summer containers, an in-ground planting of Tradescantia 'Gold Stripes' makes a superb groundcover, forming a 15" tall x 3' wide, dense patch of silvery-haired foliage, layered with irregular creamy stripes. The patches are further adorned with small lavender flowers in August and September. We find it amazingly useful as a full sun groundcover, albeit deciduous below 20 degrees F.
