Low-Profile. Lightest in Class. Easiest Setup.

FSR Aspen Pro XL. 2-3 person clamshell rooftop tent. Full Tri-Layer insulation. Deploys in under 30 seconds.

The FSR Aspen Pro XL is a low-profile clamshell hardshell rooftop tent that weighs just 154 lbs and deploys in under 30 seconds. Most hard shell tents have the tradeoff of being heavy and bulky. The Aspen Pro is neither. This full Tri-Layer insulated tent may use a traditional clamshell design, but when it comes to style and functionality, it is far from ordinary. A revised 40-degree opening angle provides noticeably increased interior space and 52 inches of headroom, giving you room to sit up, change clothes, and move around comfortably inside.

Everything you need to hit the trail is included: rooftop tent, mounting hardware, 7.5' telescoping ladder, memory foam mattress, dimmable LED light strip, shoe bags, gear storage grid, grab handles, and gas strut locks. No add-ons required. No upcharges for essentials. Free shipping options available (lower 48 states).

Deploys in Under 30 Seconds

Pop open 4 quick latches, push up on the tent to engage the interior gas struts, extend the U-bar, and you are ready to camp. That is it. No poles. No rainfly. No guy lines. The entire process takes under 30 seconds. Teardown is just as fast: collapse the U-bar, push the tent closed, latch it, and drive. Spend more of your valuable outdoor time doing the fun stuff and less of it on "work." This is the fastest-deploying hardshell rooftop tent we carry.

52 Inches of Real Headroom

The revised 40-degree opening angle is noticeably different from standard clamshell tents. With 52 inches of interior height and a sleeping area of 55" W x 81.5" L, you have room to sit up, change clothes, read, and move around without hunching. The upgraded memory foam mattress stays inside when you close the tent. Your light bedding or sleeping bags store inside as well. The integrated dimmable LED light strip provides warm light for reading or winding down at night. This tent feels bigger inside than its low-profile exterior would suggest.

4-Season Use. 100% Waterproof.

FSR's patented Tri-Layer technology works like a canteen to strategically fortify the entire tent. Polycotton fill is sandwiched between two layers of 210D ripstop, creating wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling insulation that blocks heat from seeping in when it is hot and prevents it from escaping when it is cold. The entire tent body is completely waterproof. The integrated rainfly (210D Oxford ripstop PU 3000mm with silver blockout coating, UPF 50+) provides an extra layer of security and shielding from sun. Use this tent year-round in any climate.

Premium Construction

Uber durable extruded aluminum frame, open cross-slat floor for breathability, and honeycomb aluminum top prioritize aerodynamics and keep the Aspen Pro within the featherweight class at just 154 lbs, despite the feature-rich punch it is packing. Aluminum construction lasts longer than ABS plastic or fiberglass, which have the potential of cracking over time. The polymer corners absorb impacts without transferring stress to the frame. This is a tent built to handle years of hard use on and off road.

Mount Accessories to the Shell

Dual channel extruded aluminum allows you to mount crossbars, shovels, traction boards, lightbars, Rotopax, and more directly to the tent's hardshell. When the tent is closed and you are driving, the exterior of the shell becomes a gear platform. Crossbars (sold separately) bolt into the dual channels for carrying additional cargo on top of the tent. This means your rack carries the tent, and the tent carries your gear. Two tiers of hauling from one mount point.

More Features That Matter

Condensation Elimination: The aluminum open, cross-slat floor allows the tent to breathe from below. FSR paired it with strategically located venting across 360 degrees to virtually eliminate condensation. You should not wake up to wet walls in this tent, which is the most common complaint with hardshell tents from other brands.

Gas-Strut Assisted: The gas struts live on the inside, so when you are not using them, they are protected and not vulnerable to catching tree limbs or accumulating dirt. Interior-mounted struts also maintain their performance longer because they are shielded from UV exposure and weather.

Heater, AC, and Electrical Ports: Purpose-built pass-throughs for running a heater duct, AC unit hose, or electrical cable into the tent without leaving a window cracked open. Essential for cold weather camping and extended trips.

Adjustable Shoe Bag Locations: Unlike most tents that fix shoe bags in one position, the Aspen Pro XL lets you adjust where the shoe bags mount based on your preference and how you enter/exit the tent.

Find Your Fitment

The Aspen Pro XL is perfect for full-size SUVs, pickup trucks with above-cab-height bed racks, and long bed pickups with below-cab mounting. The closed profile is just 7 3/8 inches tall (including mounting rail), making it the lowest-profile tent in the FSR lineup. You need a roof rack, bed rack, or set of crossbars that can support at least 154 lbs of dynamic load.

Aspen Pro XL vs Evolution V3 XL

Both tents are from FSR, both sleep 2-3 people, and both use the same Tri-Layer insulation. The key difference is the design: the Aspen Pro XL is a clamshell that opens from one side (lower profile when closed, faster setup), while the Evolution V3 XL is a dual-hinge pop-up that opens from the center (taller interior, more storage). Here is a quick comparison.

Aspen Pro XL Evolution V3 XL
Style Clamshell Dual-hinge pop-up
Weight 154 lbs 184 lbs
Closed Height 7 3/8" 9 1/2"
Interior Height 52" 38"
Setup Time Under 30 seconds Under 60 seconds
Bedding Storage Light bedding or sleeping bags Sheets, pillows, light comforter
Best For Low profile, fast setup, lighter rigs Max storage, extreme temps, full-size trucks

Choose the Aspen Pro XL if you want the lowest closed profile (7 3/8" vs 9 1/2"), the lightest weight (154 vs 184 lbs), the fastest setup (30 vs 60 seconds), and more headroom when open (52" vs 38"). Choose the Evolution V3 XL if you need more bedding storage and a dual-hinge design.

Pros

  • Deploys in under 30 seconds, the fastest-setting hardshell tent we carry
  • Just 154 lbs and 7 3/8" closed height, one of the lightest and lowest-profile hardshell tents on the market
  • 52 inches of interior headroom (more than many dual-hinge tents) thanks to the revised 40-degree opening angle
  • Full Tri-Layer insulation on every surface for 4-season, 100% waterproof protection
  • Dual channel shell allows crossbar and accessory mounting directly to the tent
  • Everything included: memory foam mattress, ladder, LED, mounting kit, shoe bags, gear grid, grab handles

Cons

  • Clamshell design means one side is open and one side stays down. Less wind protection than a fully enclosed dual-hinge tent in heavy storms
  • Bedding storage is rated for light bedding or sleeping bags only. Heavy comforters may not fit when the tent is closed

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Aspen Pro XL and the Aspen Lite XL?

The Aspen Pro XL has full Tri-Layer insulation on every surface (walls, floor, ceiling) and a honeycomb aluminum top. The Aspen Lite XL uses a tonneau-style hybrid top and FSR Tech Fabric in some areas to get the weight under 110 lbs. Choose the Pro XL if you camp in cold weather or extreme temperatures and want maximum insulation. Choose the Lite if weight is your top priority.

What rack do I need for the Aspen Pro XL?

You need a roof rack, bed rack, or set of crossbars with a dynamic load rating of at least 154 lbs. The tent mounts to crossbars using the included universal mounting hardware. The closed footprint is 59 1/2" W x 86 1/2" L, so verify your rack dimensions can accommodate it. It works with racks from Prinsu, Front Runner, Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and others. Call us at 844-200-3979 for fitment confirmation.

Can I mount crossbars on top of the Aspen Pro XL?

Yes. The Aspen Pro XL features dual channel extruded aluminum on the hardshell that accepts crossbars (sold separately). You can mount crossbars, traction boards, shovels, lightbars, Rotopax, and other accessories directly to the tent. When the tent is closed and you are driving, the exterior of the shell becomes additional gear storage space.

Does the Aspen Pro XL have condensation problems?

FSR engineered the Aspen Pro XL to virtually eliminate condensation. The open, cross-slat aluminum floor allows the tent to breathe from below, and strategically located venting across 360 degrees circulates air through the tent. This is the same condensation elimination system used across all FSR tents and is one of their key differentiators from competitors.

Is the Aspen Pro XL good for winter camping?

Yes. The full Tri-Layer construction insulates the entire tent body with polycotton fill between two layers of 210D ripstop. The heater/AC/electrical pass-throughs let you run a heater duct into the tent without cracking a window. FSR lists "extreme temperatures" as a use case for this tent. Pair with a quality sleeping bag rated for your expected conditions.

Arthurian Fae Quest…say less.
Format: Kindle
A fae centered Arthurian tale unlike any I’ve read so far. The author did a great job at descriptive world building, with scenes easily playing out in my minds eye. There was plenty of action, suspense, and even a touch of horror. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, a quest, with plot twist and turns aplenty. There was a love triangle, which I’m not usually a fan of but, it played out well in this story line. The FMC, Morgan Pendragon, was so blatantly naïve, yet I typically expect as much in a ‘book one’ of a series, especially one that features a fairly sheltered princess. I was happy to read that in spite of this, she still showed a strong sense of morals, fire, and spine. Now our MMC? Kairos Draven, aka Void’s Edge. Oh, how I’m a sucker for a smoking’ hot grumpy warrior alpha with a witty mouth, and a strong sense of “touch her and die” attitude, so you know who held all my cards. That ending? Just made me swoon all the harder. Now add a battlecat that rivals the size of a horse…and well Ms. Briar Boleyn you have well and truly stolen my heart. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here, and follow along to see more of the characters growth. I went into this story fairly blind, and I think I enjoyed it all the more because of it. Once the story got going, it had me in an absolute chokehold and it was difficult to put down.

Not a bad start
Format: Kindle
3 stars Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the ARC! A camelot/king Arthur retelling with fae. I was hooked by the idea of this book immediately and was eager to jump into this world. • slow burn • enemies to lovers • who did this to you Morgan Pendragon watched her mother die by her father's hand when she was just eight years old, hiding under the bed. Morgan is believed to have the tainted blood of the fae in her veins and is cast aside so that her fathers illegitimate son, Arthur, can become the king. She's seen his cruel treatment of the fae firsthand, so when he sends her on a journey to find a fae weapon she seizes the opportunity to do more with her life. Along the way, she finds more than she could have imagined. I don't know a whole lot about King Arthur and Camelot but I had a lot of fun with this story! The plot has some similar tropes to popular romantasy books (From blood and ash) but there's enough originality here that it doesn't feel like I'm reading a copy. I liked how the fae were different in appearance than what is typical in most fantasy books I've read. In this book they have blue hair, violet skin and a wide range of other characteristics. I thought that the world building was easy to follow and I could easily immerse myself into this world. After reading the blurb I kept wondering when she was going to go on the journey to find Excalibur and it doesn't happen until around the 45% mark. The story is a bit slow at times but starts to pick up once they begin their journey to find Excalibur. The John Wick style Inn was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading about. There are a lot of similarities to this and FBAA and I would have liked to have it be a little more different, but I'm hoping book two will have the story turn into something of its own. Overall I enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to reading book two especially after that ending.

"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a dark fantasy romance that masterfully combines elements of myth, magic, and romance with a captivating King Arthur retelling infused with a Fae twist. From its intricately woven plot to its compelling characters, this novel delivers an immersive reading experience that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. While the novel excels in world-building, character development, and plot intricacies, some readers may yearn for a bit more fire and spice in certain aspects of the narrative. Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!!
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Queen of Roses (Blood of a Fae #1) by Briar Boleyn Genre General Fiction ( Adult), Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Dark Romance “More primordial than the stars. My name was on his lips as he promised unspeakable darkness to any who came between us.” Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!! I’m a big fan of “touch her, and you die” vibes, but I mean, what’s also not to love about a unique Arthurian retelling with gender twists, a treacherous royal court, a dangerous quest, magical Fae & mystical monsters, entwined with a bit of spice! Morgan, Princess of Pendrath and true heir to the throne has spent most of her life dimming her light to feel safe and to make others comfortable. She is treated as an outcast in the court and repressed by her family due to the blood of the Fae within her and forced to join the Temple of the Three as a priestess in training to one day replace Merlin. Her brother, King Arthur, who reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones, later tells her that he has other plans and offers her a choice of the Temple or to marry her off for political gain, unless… that is, she can journey through the great unknown and return with a long-lost fae weapon with enchanted powers known as Excalibur. Her quest begins with a roguish crew that includes the mysterious, arrogant, and heart-tuggingly handsome Captain of the Royal Guard, Kairos Draven, whom she can’t decide if she wants to stab or indulge in pleasure with. Along the way are plenty of surprises, mystical creatures, and betrayal, all while Morgan uncovers more of the truth about herself and who she can trust. This book had intriguing storylines and lovable characters that kept me turning pages and wanting more. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and comes together in book 2, Court of Claws, which I just started reading!! Read if you’re into- Dark Fantasy/Romance Slow–Burn Question Everything Magic and Action Fae Arthurian Legend Stabby/Broken FFC Morally Gray MMC Forced Proximity Queen of Roses is perfect for Holly Black, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Sarah J. Maas fans. Please check the trigger warnings page in the table of contents before reading this book.

3.5 stars, A little boring to say the least.
Format: Kindle
Wow so I'm not sure where to begin on this one. This was a very different take on the legend of Arthur and Excalibur. This is told from the point of view of Morgan the sister of Arthur. Honestly the first 50% of this book is world building and character building which unfortunately was super boring for me. Morgan to me was a female MC that had a hard time in believing in herself. Sometimes taking too long to understand exactly what was going on around her. Draven was also a different male MC, like I couldn't put my finger on him and what he was all about. It was not until the last 10% of the book did we get some answers on the mystery that is Draven. The other 50% of the book centered around this big journey with everyone having a different motive. We see a spark of magic around this time that had me excited but then we never expanded upon that and what it could mean for the female MC. I feel like I want to read the second book just to see where this goes, but the spice was probably a 2 out of 5. Side characters are ok, Lancelet was fun but I almost felt like I wanted more.
